allergy/Anaphylaxis
Your immune system shields your body from foreign bacteria and viruses, protecting you from diseases. However, sometimes it mistakenly identifies innocuous substances as potential wrongdoers, giving rise to an allergic reaction and anaphylaxis in more severe cases. If your allergies are hard to ignore or you suffer from an anaphylactic shock, our MedForce Mobile team has you covered.
what is an allergy?
When your immune system classifies a certain food or object as harmful, it produces antibodies as a defense mechanism to protect your body. You have an allergy if the things that trigger your immune response don’t usually make other people react. You can be allergic to food, plants, animals, and chemicals. Allergic reactions typically affect your sinuses, skin, head, or colon, causing symptoms like:
Runny nose
Sneezing and coughing
Swollen eyes
Digestive problems
Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
difference between a mild allergy and Anaphylaxis
Most allergies produce slight discomfort and distress but are harmless. When your immune response puts your life at risk and makes your body go into shock, it means you’re suffering from the most severe allergic reaction, called anaphylaxis. Anaphylactic shocks usually result in an airway blockage, causing low blood pressure, shortness of breath, and sometimes fainting.
when should i see a doctor for an allergy or Anaphylaxis?
Most allergies are mild and don’t require medical attention. Yet, you can visit a doctor if your allergy makes your life harder, and taking prescribed medication could solve the issue. Please see a medical professional immediately when you go into anaphylactic shock, as leaving it untreated could be fatal.
